Der 12-Stunden-Lauf
Um mitten in der Pandemie wieder Klarheit und Neuorientierung zu finden, startete Colin O’Brady im Jahre 2020 den 12-Hour-Walk.
Ende April führt Ralf Baumgarten – Journalist, Coach und Veranstalter aus Bad Orb – diese Aktion als Benefiz-Lauf zugunsten der NES-Schule durch (zum Projekt). Er beschreibt:
„Zwölf Stunden frei von Handy, ohne Begleitung, nur mit sich selbst auf Schusters Rappen. Mit einem kleinen Rucksack das Haus verlassen und im eigenen Tempo und möglichst ungestört auf Reise gehen. Das Projekt
Eine Oase des Friedens – das ist die NES-Schule in Beirut. Wirtschaftskrise, ethnische Ausgrenzung, religiöse Gewalt, Flüchtlingsnot – Chaos ist im Libanon alltäglich. Nur nicht in der „NES“: Dort besuchen Kinder verschiedenster Nationen, Religionen und Konfessionen gemeinsam den Unterricht. Und das ist – neben einem hohen akademischen Niveau – was die Schule auszeichnet: Alle werden akzeptiert und respektiert, vertrauen einander und unterstützen sich gegenseitig – kurz: Es ist ein Ort, an dem alle Kinder gleich sind, gleichgeliebt und wertgeschätzt.
Die Krisen der letzten drei Jahre und auch das verheerende Erdbeben Anfang Februar haben die NES-Schule erneut vor enorme Herausforderungen gestellt. Das Spenden-Projekt „12 Stunden für die NES(-Schule)“ soll helfen, diese Insel der Sicherheit zu wahren.
